Alberta virtual care: understanding $0 coverage and the $75 private fee
What the DR Now prices mean, what to confirm, and why a health card does not cover every service.

What the $0 price means
DR Now lists $0 for eligible insured visits with Alberta Health coverage. AHCIP covers medically necessary physician services for eligible registered residents. Coverage still depends on your eligibility and the service provided. A health card does not mean that every request, document or other service is insured. Check with the clinic when you are unsure.
When the $75 price applies
The DR Now private consultation price is $75 CAD without eligible coverage. It is not a fee to bypass assessment or obtain a prescription. Confirm the consultation fee and any additional uninsured-service fees before booking. A physician decides what care is appropriate; payment does not guarantee a medication, referral or particular result. If you pay online and the clinic later confirms your visit is covered, or no visit takes place, the fee is refunded in full.
Alberta is the current service area
The private-pay option does not expand DR Now into a nationwide service. The launch is for patients in Alberta. If you are elsewhere or uncertain about eligibility, contact Medicine Place before trying to arrange a visit. Do not assume another province’s coverage or a competitor’s pricing rules apply to this clinic.
Keep booking information in the secure workflow
Use the booking button to review the handoff information, then continue to Medeo. Have your health card, photo identification and medication list available if requested. Do not place health-card numbers in campaign links, website messages or public reviews. If the booking details differ from what you expected, ask the clinic before proceeding. For urgent or life-threatening symptoms, call 911 rather than booking online.
