DR Now by Medicine Place
Terms of Use
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Welcome to DR Now (the “Site”), a virtual-care service brand operated by Medicine Place (“Medicine Place”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using this Site, you agree to these Terms of Use (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
These Terms follow the same overall approach as Medicine Place’s website terms on medicineplace.ca/legal, adapted for DR Now virtual care. Additional terms, consents, clinic policies, or notices may apply when you book or receive care through Medeo or Medicine Place.
1. Use of this website
This Site is intended for informational purposes and to help Alberta patients begin a secure virtual appointment booking with Medicine Place. The information on this website does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. You should consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical concerns or treatment decisions.
You may use this Site for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes only. If you are using this Site on behalf of another person or organization, you confirm that you have authority to do so.
2. What DR Now is
DR Now is a patient-facing virtual-care brand of Medicine Place. It helps patients understand the service and start secure booking. Clinical care is provided by Medicine Place clinicians. Booking, messaging, and virtual-visit technology are powered by Medeo.
3. Changes to these Terms
Medicine Place may update or revise these Terms from time to time. Any changes take effect when posted on this page. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
4. Website content and accuracy
All content on this Site is provided for general informational purposes. While we strive to keep information accurate and current, details about services, eligibility, coverage, booking pathways, hours, and clinical processes may change without notice. Medicine Place does not guarantee that all information on the Site will always be complete, current, or error-free.
5. Eligibility
DR Now is intended for patients seeking virtual care through Medicine Place in Alberta, typically those with a valid Alberta Health Care Card. Eligibility, coverage, and fees depend on the patient, the service provided, and current Alberta Health billing rules. Private fees may apply when Alberta coverage requirements are not met.
6. Not for emergencies
DR Now is not an emergency service. Do not use this Site or virtual care for a medical emergency, including chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, stroke symptoms, major bleeding, loss of consciousness, severe allergic reaction, or immediate safety concerns. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
7. Healthcare services and appointments
Information on this Site regarding virtual care, appointments, and provider pathways is a general guide only. Submitting or starting an online booking request does not guarantee an appointment, a particular clinician, a prescription, a referral, same-day availability, or any specific clinical outcome until confirmed through the booking and care process.
Booking buttons on this Site direct you to Medicine Place’s secure Medeo booking flow at Medeo patient booking. Existing patients may log in when prompted. New patients may create an account securely during booking. You are responsible for providing accurate information and keeping account credentials confidential.
8. Virtual care limitations
A physician will determine whether virtual care is appropriate for your concern. Some conditions require an in-person examination, urgent care, imaging, laboratory testing, or emergency care. Prescriptions, referrals, forms, documentation, and follow-up plans are provided only when clinically appropriate and are never guaranteed before assessment.
9. Coverage and fees
Eligible insured services may be billed through Alberta Health when eligibility and coverage requirements are met. Patients without eligible Alberta coverage, or patients receiving uninsured services, may be charged private fees. Any pricing shown on the Site is informational and may be confirmed or updated during booking or by the clinic.
10. Privacy
Your use of this Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Health information shared during booking and care is handled through secure systems used by Medicine Place and Medeo.
11. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Site in violation of any applicable laws;
- use the Site for fraudulent, abusive, or harmful purposes;
- attempt unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or networks;
- interfere with Site security or functionality;
- use automated tools, bots, or scraping technologies except as permitted by law or with written permission; or
- submit misleading, unlawful, or harmful content.
12. Intellectual property
Site content, branding, logos, text, images, graphics, and design elements are owned by or licensed to Medicine Place / DR Now and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reuse them without prior written permission, except for ordinary personal use of the Site.
13. Third-party services and links
The Site may link to third-party services, including Medeo and Medicine Place websites. Medicine Place is not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices, except as required by law. Your use of those services may be subject to their terms and privacy policies.
14. Disclaimers
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Medicine Place does not warrant uninterrupted access, error-free content, or that virtual care will be suitable for every concern. Service details, hours, availability, and fees may change without notice.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Medicine Place and DR Now are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Alberta or Canadian law, including liability related to personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is prohibited.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the applicable laws of Canada. Courts in Alberta have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Site, subject to applicable law.
17. Site administration
This Site may be operated and maintained on behalf of Medicine Place with support from technology and web service providers. Website structure, design, and technical management may be administered by external providers while brand and content ownership remain with Medicine Place unless otherwise stated.
